A basic salary statement usually includes the following four items:
1. “勤怠” (kintai): Detailed information about the number of working days and hours…
2. “支払” (shiharai) or “支給” (shikyū): Amounts paid by the company
3. “控除” (kojo): Deductions
4. “差引支給額” (sashihikiki kyūgaku): Net salary after deductions
Details of each item are as follows:
1.勤怠 (kintai): Diligence
所定 (shotei): Number of working days stipulated in a month
出勤 (shukkin): Number of working days
休出 (kyūshutsu): Number of working days on days off
欠勤 (kekkin): Number of days off (sick, personal matters, etc.)
遅刻時間 (chikokujikan): Number of working hours Late
早退時間 (sōtaijikan): Number of hours leaving early
私用外出 (shiōgaishūtsu): Number of hours spent outside during working hours
年休 (nenkyū or yūkyū): Paid leave days.
Typically, you will receive 10 or more paid leave days after working for 6 months (the number of leave days then increases each year).
Remaining annual leave days (年休残): Number of remaining annual leave days
Sick leave (病欠): Number of sick leave days (with a hospital certificate)
Working hours (出勤時間): Number of working hours (companies that calculate wages by the hour)
Overtime hours (残業時間): Number of overtime hours
Night shift hours (深夜時間): Number of late-night shifts (after 10 PM) (Evening, salary increased by 25%)
(Hours worked on holidays): Number of hours worked on holidays
2. (Shiharai or Shikyū): Payments made by the company
(Kihonkyū): Basic salary (the fixed amount of salary the company pays you monthly; bonuses will be calculated as a multiplier of this basic salary…)
(Teate): Allowance Allowances:
Job allowance (depending on your job position, you will receive a different amount)
Qualification allowance (support for employees with professional or language qualifications)
Dependent allowance (for dependents, for example, elderly parents, young children, a stay-at-home wife who doesn’t work, etc.)
Accommodation allowance (for business trips, working at other branches or client companies) Items
Management allowance (kanri): allowance for managing a team, production line, etc.
Allowance allowance (yobidashi): allowance for when the company urgently calls you in outside of working hours.
The above are some terms commonly used in Japanese payrolls. Trainees should remember them for easy tracking of their payslips.
